Sable Accelerator, an organisation that aims to help South African startups scale globally by providing crucial B2B opportunities, has recently partnered with US-based Powerlinx in order to expand its goal of being a trusted expert network of expatriate South Africans.

Since it launched in 2012, Sable (aka South African Business Link to Experts) has been described as the gateway for South African startups into Silicon Valley and aims to assist SA-based entrepreneurs looking for venture capital and new markets abroad. By accessing and partnering with global customers, capital sources and partners, the Sable network uses big data analytics to match relevant and compatible growth opportunities of more than 15 million qualified prospects.

The New York-based B2B network, Powerlinx, will further help provide South African companies, research centres and institutions to quickly identify and engage with strategic growth opportunities domestically and globally.

Powerlinx describes itself as furthering businesses strategic objectives in an efficient, affordable, and secure way. Pilot users of Powerlinx include emerging companies from South Africa such as TimeToReply, CapeRay, Questr, Virtual Mobile Tech, GoMetro, wiGroup and a number of others.

“We’ll be empowering South African companies to be more self-directed and effective in global partnering and international market access by enabling them to seamlessly find, connect and act on verified opportunities to grow their businesses globally,” notes Donovan Neale-May, Sable’s managing partner.

Like a dating site for businesses, Powerlinx uses registered businesses’ unique criteria to connect them with a potential match using its database of over 15 million profiles. The match depends on the company’s specific objectives and stretches as far as business partnering, distribution development, new market entry, geo-expansion, product diversification, and so forth.

According to Powerlinx CEO Doron Cohen, most companies in the world doesn’t have an effective, trusted online platform to help businesses further their goals.

“They continue to work within inefficient, tedious and expensive processes for research and outreach, along with hiring of outside bankers and brokers, to fulfill their expansion goals. Powerlinx’s cutting-edge platform completely transforms that process by enabling business owners and leaders to discover growth opportunities on a global scale,” he says.
