TaxTim now lets South Africans file their taxes straight into SARS

South Africa’s dreaded tax season is finally drawing to a close. As 21 November approaches, local startup TaxTim is now introducing a one-click solution so we can now file our tax returns straight into South African Revenue Service (SARS).

Celebrating its third birthday, until now TaxTim has focused on assisting South Africans with completing their income tax return forms correctly online. Essentially, the company went on a mission to make filing taxes enduring, if not fun.

“We are very excited to finally offer professional assistance throughout the entire customer journey, from registration through to submission. Now you might ask, ‘Why eFile when you can T-file?’,” asks Robinson.

TaxTim customers can now expect to complete their tax return forms and then immediately submit them via T-filing, straight into the SARS system, receiving assessments and any due refunds a day or two later.

With less than one month to go before the end of the 2014 filing season and some 3-million tax returns that still need to be filed, this latest offering hopes to put a smile on the taxman’s face and many SA taxpayers.

“A lot of people are confused by not knowing where or how to enter incomes and expenses on their tax returns, or miss out on getting the refunds that are due to them simply because they don’t know better,” notes Director and CTO Evan Robinson. “Instead of presenting difficult forms with hundreds of blocks, TaxTim asks you simple questions one-by-one in an on-screen conversation, then completes and submits your tax return for you.”

The service is SARS approved and has consulted with over an impressive number of 900 000 taxpayers to date. “Our goal is to deliver the TaxTim brand via its scalable platform to the African market, and we are negotiating the necessary partnerships to do so.” says Director and CFO Marc Sevitz.

The startup has three pricing options, ranging from R200 to R450 for a one year subscription.
