Seedstars

Seedstars World is heading to Zimbabwe on 30 October 2016 for the very first time, in search of the nation’s most innovative startup.

With the support of local host Impact Hub Harare, Seedstars World is looking for smart startups who are able to solve regional issues through innovative products and services.

These startups are to be able to produce and develop profitable products for the global market as well as support their regional business and growth.

Eligible startups need to be less than two-years old, have raised less than US$50 000 in funding and have already built a minimum viable product with suitable traction.

“Seedstars World is a platform connecting investors to the next generation of startup entrepreneurs, pulling the spotlight from Silicon Valley and Western Europe. As this will be our first time ever to organise our event in Harare, our excitement level and expectations are high,” said Associate for Seedstars World, Salem Kebede.

“We have heard so much about the bustling startup ecosystem in Zimbabwe and we are now here to witness the reality. We are impressed by what we have seen in the continent so far and cannot wait to add Zimbabwean startups on our map,” he continued.

The final pitching event will take place in Switzerland 2017. Here, startups will have an opportunity to pitch before thousands of attendees. Startups pitching in the final event next year stand a chance of winning US$1-million in equity investment.

In order to provide these local entrepreneurs with the opportunity, Seedstars World has been working closely with Impact Hub Harare to find their Zimbabwean representative.

“Impact Hub Harare is excited about hosting Seedstars World in Zimbabwe for the first time. This is really a great opportunity to have our local ‘hustle’ on a global stage and for the ‘hustlers’ themselves to learn from other innovators worldwide,” said co-founder at the Impact Hub Network Harare, Tadzoka Pswarayi.

“This event is truly one of a kind providing the winner with chance to win a trip to Zurich, Switzerland, and mix with like-minded peers from emerging nations who are ready to make a positive impact on our globe,” concludes Pswarayi.
