Agritech startup Bandim Online wins Seedstars Bissau
Bissau-Guinean agritech startup Bandim Online has been selected ahead of four other startups as the winner of last Saturday’s Seedstars Bissau pitch event.
In all, five startups —Inovsat GW, Ubuntu 2S, Get Knowledge and Instituto Guineense de Opinião Publica e Estatística (Igope) — pitched at the event which took place on Saturday (29 September).
Bandim Online was placed first for its agritech solution which aims to mitigate producer losses by getting products to market quicker and with the best prices. Cleantech startup Ubuntu and opinion platform Igope placed second and third, respectively.
Bandim Online will now represent Guinea-Bissau at Seedstars Summits in Switzerland and Tanzania
Bandim Online will next year represent Guinea-Bissau at the global Seedstars Summit in Switzerland where it stands to win up to $1-million in equity investments.
By winning the Seedstars Bissau event, the startup also landed a ticket to the regional Seedstars Summit which will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in December.
