Seedstars World, one of the world’s largest startup competitions, has announced the 10 Angolan startups that will compete at Seedstars Luanda this Friday (12 October).
The event will take place at a local technical college — the Instituto Superior Politécnico de Tecnologias e Ciências (Isptec) in the Angolan capital.

The startup that comes out tops will win an all-inclusive trip to attend the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland in April next year where they stand to win up to $1-million in equity investments.
In addition, the winning startup will also represent the country at the Seedstars Africa Regional Summit which is set to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 13 December.

A panel of six judges will select the three best startups from among the 10.
The jury panel includes BFA Asset Management CEO Rui Oliveira, TGI president Alexander Thompson-Payan, Kianda Hub managing director Joel Epalanga, Unitel head of innovation Juelson Bartolomeu, Banco Millennium Atlantico board member Odyle Vieira Dias Cardoso and Seedstars World regional manager Claudia Makadristo.
The 10 selected startups include a ride-sharing service, a digital medicine procurement platform and an edtech social network. They are:
AE Otchitanda: This is an online marketplace where users can make money by selling new or pre-used items.
Balus: Balus is a combat tournament management platform which also serves as a countrywide database with information on athletes in Jiu Jitsu academies throughout the country.
eAngola: This social network for students aims to facilitate and stimulate the learning process by helping users share content like video-classes and books online.
Fix Technologies: Fix Technologies’ online ticket platform allows users to buy tickets and sign-up for events taking place in Angola.
Kepya: Kepya is a on online marketplace for agricultural produce that connects farmers, transporters, buyers and agro service providers. The platform is accessible via web portal, telephone call and SMS.
LV Digital: This elearning platform aims to increase access to quality higher education in Portuguese speaking countries.
HS-Geo Survey: With the help of drones, HS-Geo Survey collects and analyses aerial image data that can address farmers’ problems in monitoring pests and plants.
Kubinga: Kubinga is a peer-to-peer ride-sharing service that aims to provide Angolans with a cost-effective mobility option.
Projepolis: Projepolis is a digital medicine procurement platform on a mission to increase access to health care by mitigating unfair competition and inefficient distribution.
Tellas: Tellas is a digital platform that aims to share African movies and documentaries with the rest of the world.
