    Editors' Lab Cape Town is a two-day hackathon taking place from 6-7 September that will be taking place in the city at 24.com’s digital headquarters and is organised by the Global Editors Network, the African Media Initiative and Google.   • Singaporean video & subtitle startup Viki to be acquired by Japan’s Rakuten

    Sources report that Singaporian startup Viki is to be acquired by Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten. Having been dubbed "Hulu for the rest of the world", Viki streams videos using crowdsourced subtitles. As the name also suggests, it uses both elements of Video and Wiki to gather and stream video content to much larger audiences.
