  • SweepSouth’s Aisha Pandor to speak at Ventureburn Tech Startup Survey launch

    SweepSouth CEO and founder Aisha Pandor has been confirmed to speak at the launch of the 2018 Ventureburn Tech Startup Survey which takes place this Thursday (15 November) at Workshop 17 in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Pandor (pictured above) last week celebrated after her startup clinched the award for the best small business category at the inaugural Southern Africa Venture Capital Association (Savca) business awards. She will also be joined on stage by business mentor Pavlo Phitidis, the CEO of Aurik Business Accelerator, who is a regular contributor to 702 Talk Radio and 567 Cape Talk Radio.   • Here are the winners of the 2017 Ventureburn Tech Startup Survey

    Ventureburn is proud to announce the seven startup founders and startup employees who have been randomly selected as prize winners after completing the 2017 Ventureburn Tech Startup Survey powered by Telkom Futuremakers. The results of the survey were publicised in November. Those who completed the survey, stood the chance to win five free advertising packages on Trudon and a Telkom business in a box prizes, as well as an iPhone 8.   • Surge in black entrepreneurs, Gauteng challenges Silicon Cape as startup capital

    Gauteng is now home to 44% of tech startup founders -- behind the Western Cape's 47%. The percentage of black startups has risen from 26% in 2015, to 50% this year. Just four percent of black tech startups turn a profit, versus 16% of their white counterparts. Over a quarter of startups plan to raise angel or VC funding, but only eight percent receive such funding.
