    Nigerian music service iROKING is partnering with South African-born instant messenger and social network 2go to bring free Nigerian music downloads from the likes of Timaya, Flavour and Burna Boy to the more than 9 million active 2go users across Nigeria. 2go, a service who's popularity rivals that of Facebook in Nigeria, becomes the second South African startup iROKING has partnered with in recent times.     SA sees strong growth in digital ad-spend

    While some traditional media struggles, digital ad-spend in South Africa has witnessed powerful growth. The latest full year (2015) digital advertising spend report released by PwC on behalf of the IAB SA illustrates that the local industry has moved beyond the R3.4-billion spend (invoiced) mark in 2015. This translates to 36% overall year-on-year growth. Certain sectors have witnessed exponential development.     Silicon Valley reported 226 private company acquisitions in 2012, well ahead of New York with 100 deals, and leagues ahead of any other US tech hub, reports PrivCo, which tracks such deals.     Production and finance company, Spier Films, recently made an investment in Triggerfish Animation Studio’s second animated film, Khumba. Triggerfish CFO Jean-Michel Koenig, revealed to Ventureburn that the investment is in fact a multi-million rand deal. Spier has funded a slate of successful films including Master Harold and the Boys, Son of Man and Black Butterflies. This is the first time the company has invested in an animated feature film.     Where there is a wine drinker, apparently some beer drinkers will follow? It seems so as wine rating app Real Time Wine (RTW) founder Andy Hadfield teamed up with South African Breweries (SAB) in a project that seeks to accommodate beer drinkers with the launch of MyBeer.
