Can anonymous lists help Active Gifts win at Social Gifting?
Some people think that social gifting is the next big thing in tech. Hell some even think it’s the future of ecommerce. One of the latest guests to the part is a site called Active Gifts.
According to the Ukranian-based company’s CEO Artem Sukhoroslov, the site’s aim is to make sure that 100% of people receiving gifts are satisfied with them.
He claims to have to stats that show 75% of people only pretend to be satisfied with the gifts they receive, leading to a perpetual cycle of re-gifting or store returns.
Active Gifts’ solution? Lists. The company claims to have developed software that scans people’s social profiles and draws up a list of gifts they might like.
From there you can anonymously request that they evaluate the list, by liking or disliking every item on it.
Oh and if you’re chilled with Active Gifts knowing when all of your friends’ birthdays are, you can just login with Facebook.
As every telemarketer ever said, “that’s not all folks”. If you manage to bring your mates on board, you can also use them to crowdsource gift ideas. And if you hate last-minute shopping, Active Gifts claims you can schedule present purchases months in advance.
Active Gifts claims to have been funded by startup accelerator EastLabs, which is backed by EastOne.
All of this sounds well and good, but I get the feeling that most social network users have become a bit wary about filling in anonymous lists, especially if they feel a bit spammy.
