Pricecheck gets a nod in this year’s BlackBerry Achievement Awards
Mobile comparison shopping App PriceCheck has been nominated as one of three finalists for the app of the year category in this year’s BlackBerry Achievement Awards.
The South African-based offers shoppers access to different price options as well as reviews for various products with access to both online and offline stores.
According to BlackBerry, the awards aim to recognise “cutting-edge contributions of creative thinkers, from all corners of the globe” by bringing together a community of exceptional businesses, entrepreneurs and developers.
“Using BlackBerry technology to help power innovation, the BlackBerry Achievement Awards celebrate when ideas meet execution. As BlackBerry continues to evolve and transform, we want to thank our loyal customers, partners and advocates for joining us on this mobility journey – and, recognize their achievements,” says BlackBerry.
With the many apps in BlackBerry World, the company has narrowed the awards to five categories with three apps in each.
- Putting customers first
- Mobile innovation of the year
- Making the world a better place
- Entrepreneur of the year
- App of the year
“Being selected out of more than 100 000 BlackBerry 10 apps worldwide is quite a milestone,” says PriceCheck GM, Andre de Wet, “and as South Africans we can be pretty chuffed about it. It shows what is being done locally on mobile is world-class and what PriceCheck is doing for mobile shopping is the right way to go.”
The winners for each category will receive a plane ticket and accommodation to this year’s BlackBerry Live show as well as BlackBerry training and certification from BlackBerry.
BlackBerry users can vote for their favourite apps in all five categories before the 15 April deadline. PriceCheck’s BlackBerry 10 app competes alongside the Hoyts Cinema app and the Cooklet app for the BlackBerry App of the Year award.
