Enter the Entrepreneur ‘X’ Factor and fast-track your business
If you consider yourself an entrepreneur – someone with an adept business acumen, an affinity for risk-taking and developing ideas into marketable, scalable companies – then you probably haven’t considered entering the hit reality television show The X Factor. Well one show you should consider entering is its spin-off competition, Entrepreneur ‘X’ Factor, which promises to appreciate your skill-set, and give you an opportunity to fast-track your business idea.
Brought to you by “transformational coaching and events company” Rock Your Life, Entrepreneur ‘X’ Factor is a competition in its second year, focused on finding a grass-roots entrepreneur with… you guessed it, the ‘X’ Factor. Founded by serial Australian entrepreneur Mike Handcock, the competition spans over 20 cities globally including Cape Town, Johannesburg, Mumbai and Singapore.
Handcock had this to say of the event:
“You can be great at what you do and work twelve hours a day, but in the end the people who fast track success are the ones with ‘X’ Factor and it’s pretty clear to us from our event series globally in 2012, and years of working in over twenty countries, what that is.”
The event is two-fold. One one hand it provides contestants access to “short cuts” from experienced associates, such as Dave Rogers, one of Asia’s leading entrepreneurs coaches, as well as over 30 successful entrepreneurs, guest millionaires and self-made people.
The other aspect is the competition where participants pitch their ideas (and themselves) to an audience for prizes. Each city will have a heat winner who will go into the global competition, and stand a chance to win Entrepreneur Product Packs, Coaching & Mentoring, and live events to the value of US$25 000.
The event is a great learning opportunity, and an avenue to see how you stack up in a competition environment. Handcock and Rogers, and several of their guests, ended up working with some of last year’s contestants, so there are strong networking opportunities regardless of whether you win the competition or not.
The Johannesburg event kicks off on 27 May, and the Cape Town leg on 31 May at the V&A Waterfront, Clock Towers.
2012’s winner, Kate Macpherson, of Belicious was the Singapore heat winner originally.
