Net Prophet wants to help take startups from mind to market

Net Prophet is an annual gathering of 2 000+ geeks, and one of the bigger tech conferences on the South African calendar. For a couple of years now, it’s hosted a startup workshop as an offshoot of the conference and it’s looking for entrepreneurs keen to take part in this year’s edition.

The workshop, which is limited to participants from 10 startups, will see the startups cover a number of topics which, the organisers claim, will provide them with practical skills “for improved business decision-making”. Topics include:

  • Is the market ready?
  • Getting money into your business
  • Sales
  • Managing high growth
  • Planning for the very long term

The free two-day workshop, says the Net Prophet team, offer “world-class coaching that is designed to set up young entrepreneurs for success”. Facilitated by MentorCamp Canada’s Permjot Valia, and supported by the Saratoga Innovation team, the organisers claim that From Mind to Market is an “invaluable opportunity to get new businesses, products or services to market”.

Only ten startup teams will be selected to participate in the workshop. Previous workshop attendees represented the likes of Frelio, Golfnicity, Innovation Lounge, MobiZing, My Claim Mate, Myows, NoJo Shomo, Perk, This Army, and Snapplify.

Workshop partners Saratoga is also involved with the conference, focusing on initiatives with tangible outcomes such as the workshop and the Net Prophet Bursary.

Net Prophet takes place on 23 May and speakers include TechCrunch Europe editor Mike Butcher, PriceCheck’s Andre de Wet, Triggerfish’s Stuart Forrest, Stephen Lund, and former international rugby player Bob Skinstad.
