Afrilabs partners with Tech Trailblazers Awards, gives members a global break
African acceleration and innovation hubs are growing in number across Africa. While these hubs can create huge opportunities for startups on the continent, it is translating that opportunity across the ocean, to other parts of the globe, that seems to be the next logical step. With that in mind AfriLabs, the largest tech hub network in Africa, has partnered with the Tech Trailblazers Awards to enable greater opportunities for its members.
AfriLabs is a pan-African network of technology and innovation hubs aimed at promoting the growth and development of the African tech sector – it has 20 accelerators and hubs in 13 African countries – placing itself well to support the partnership.
AfriLabs members are now able to compete in The Tech Trailblazers Awards, which recognises (and awards) excellence in IT startups across categories such as cloud, mobile, information security, big data, virtualisation, networking, storage and more, and also gives them exposure to its expansive judging panel. Additionally, all African entrants are automatically entered into the Middle East and Africa Cup which is part of the Tech Trailblazers Regional Cup Awards.
AfriLabs director Tayo Akinyemi said of the partnership:
“Partnering with the Tech Trailblazers Awards is a great opportunity for AfriLabs to enable its network members to be rewarded for their innovation. Making new connections with the judging network, having the chance to win great sponsor prizes and receiving visibility on an international scale is very exciting.”
Rose Ross, Founder and ‘Chief Trailblazer’ said that “being able to reach into Africa and bring their finest in enterprise technology to a global platform is going to be a great experience and it will be interesting to see how they compare with all the other entrants from around the world.”
This is not the first African partnership The Tech Trailblazers Awards has made, and adds to collaboration with the Silicon Cape, Ventureburn and Tech News. This year’s Tech Trailblazers Awards is open to entries until 12 September.
