Zapacab Releases the Simplest App to Order a Taxi
Cape Town mobile taxi ordering startup Zapacab has released native apps for Android and iOS devices. This is in response to passengers demand for “clever, easy to use apps”.
Zapacab initially launched their product on mobile browsers to allow all passengers the easiest access to ordering a cab. With the majority of users being Android and iPhone users, the requests for a slicker app-based experience have been numerous.
Chief executive officer (CEO) Rupert Sully says they will continue to offer the web based service for Blackberry users, but felt it was strategic to launch the native apps. “It is the sort of service you use on a regular basis so an app makes sense. People love clever, easy to use apps, and that is exactly what our team has delivered,” he said.
The app is free and really easy to download, and in no time you can start ordering Cabs straight from your homescreen, with just two clicks. Additionally, moving to a native app means a faster experience for Zapacab passengers, and includes a spruced up design.
The team says they have seen a great uptake since launching the app this week. Rupert informed us that they will be continuing to limit their coverage to Cape Town until they have polished their service here, but passengers can still download and play with the app throughout the country.
“Unlike other taxi apps, we have kept it simple. No account creation and minimal choices makes Zapacab the quickest and simplest app to order a cab in Cape Town,” says Product Manager Matthew Aberdein. Zapacab is also working closely with the industry to empower the drivers. “Technology is a great way to help these guys improve their service and stand their own against international competition,” explains Rupert.
The existing taxi market is highly disorganised and consumers suffer. The drivers also suffer as they are under-utilised and have no smart systems to rely upon. Zapacab hopes to put an end to the unnecessary 40 minute wait that passengers experience. Download the app and let us know what you think in the comments below.
