Ever wanted an internship in Asia?

Students and graduates from around the world now have access to information on the best internships offered by startups in Asia, thanks to iMoney, one of Malaysia’s leading financial product comparison website. The jobs site? It’s called LaunchPad.

Asia is one of the fastest growing economic regions in the world, alongside Africa, and its blossoming startup scene will give interns a hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. LaunchPad, which functions as an internship aggregator, is effectively a jobs board for internships who’re looking for startups in Asia.

LaunchPad was created as a social project to help students “match their skills to the right jobs.”

“As a company built with the help of interns from around the world, we understand the difficulties students face in finding an internship position that will expose them to a myriad of opportunities and experiences,” said Lee Ching Wei, group CEO and co-founder of iMoney.

Ching adds that LaunchPad become an extra project for iMoney — created with the help of startups in the community, universities and partners such as Cradle, MoneyTree, EASYUNI, Piktochart, Proficeo, Startup@Mamak, Startup Malaysia, Softspace, Focus Malaysia and Endeavor to get the word out there to potential applicants.

Malaysia’s startup community has taken the project onboard to make it a collaborative social effort — a community project.

Hazel Hassan, vice-president of marketing and strategic partnerships at Cradle — an agency under the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia — expresses its pleasure to support such an effort.

“We see this as a stepping stone for them to acquire knowledge, gain work experience and hopefully gather the start-up spirit too. We believe that by gaining work experience in a startup environment, interns will take with them the right attitude and skills that will help chart a brighter future,” said Hassan.

iMoney, founded in 2012, is a financial comparison site that allows users to compare financial products such as home loans, credit cards and insurance.
