DEMO Africa 2014 to kick-off with special investor summit 24 September

DEMO Africa is one of the continent’s biggest and most extensive startup competitions. Earlier this year, the annual initiative announced the top 40 up-and-coming tech companies on the continent to present their ideas during the three day event running from 24 – 26 September 2014. DEMO Africa 2014 will kick-off with a special investor summit in Lagos, Nigeria to focus on the the future of angel investing on the continent.

Angel investor networks including Cairo Angels, Lagos Angels Network, Ghana Angel Investors Network, Africa Angels Network, Angel Africa List and others come together to meet, exchange best practices, share lessons learned and set the road map for the future.

More experts from organisations such as infoDev, the WorldBank, African Development Bank, the European Business Angels Networks (EBAN), VC4Africa’s Investor Network and others are also invited to join the conversation.

“As a growing number of investors from across the continent achieve success, so does our ability to support new generations of entrepreneurs coming up,” says VC4Africa CEO Ben White.

The Investor Summit will focus on knowledge exchange between the continent’s various angel investors and angel investor networks and focus on the roadmap of the future of angel investing in Africa.

The program for 24 September will consist of speakers, break-out sessions and fireside chats. Investors will be both local and international and will consist of angel investors, impact investors, venture capital funds, corporates (corporate venture capital); all focused on early stage SME investing.

This will be followed by DEMO Africa 2014 where 40 innovative companies will pitch their ideas on 25 and 26 September.
