LeWeb founders announce new startups
Long-time Burn Media readers know how important LeWeb is to Burn Media. It was at the Paris-conference, after all, that the first lines of code for our flagship site Memeburn were written. So when we receive news that conference founders Loic and Geraldine Le Meur are launching their own startups, we’re bound to sit up and take notice.
Both startups launch in May at exclusive events in Paris and both are aimed at continuing LeWeb’s original vision of helping out entrepreneurs.
Geraldine is launching The Refiners, a cross-border accelerator aimed at helping foreign startups thrive in Silicon Valley (co-founded with Carlos Diaz & Pierre Gaubil). Twice yearly, The Refiners will select “exceptional startups” for a three-month program in San Francisco offering mentorship, funding, education and networking.
Loic meanwhile is set to launch a new event, Leade.rs Paris (pronounced “Leaders”). Taking place on 13 May, the event will cover everything from artificial intelligence to investing, drones to new products and startups. The event will also see the launch of what is described as “a new kind of platform to discover leaders around the world”.
