Bureaux Black: take a look at Cape Town’s new high-end co-working space
Cape Town has its fair share of co-working spaces, catering to the city’s startups, freelancers, and anyone else who needs a bit of flexibility in their working environment.
Each of them offers something different, including the latest entrant into the space: Bureaux Black.
The penthouse office suites, managed by The Bureaux, are located in Sea Point and are meant for people looking for something a little more sophisticated than your average co-working environment.
“We’ve designed premium private office suites and luxury office space for professionals, travelling executives and independent consultants who require an impressive, functional fully-serviced space with no admin,” says developer and founder of The Bureaux, Greg Beadle.
“We work on a membership concept for the space, offering virtual membership, desk membership or a private office suite, including a dedicated receptionist, high speed internet, boardrooms and an executive fitout of the space,” says Beadle.
It’s pretty clear then that this space isn’t really aimed at your average bootstrapped startup.
“Professionals and business executives want flexibility now – they are often operating independently, they travel often and don’t want the hassles of running an office, but need a smart office space that reflects their business and status,” says Beadle. “This enables them to walk in, open their laptops and start their productive business day immediately.”
Bureaux Black’s penthouse offices are situated on the top floor of The Point Centre, with a second location planned for the Waterclub, in Granger Bay.
The Bureaux started with Beadle offering flexible office space in The Woodstock Exchange in Albert Road in 2012, creating the ideal space for entrepreneurs and SME owner operators to test the cohabited workspace concept.
Since then, The Bureaux concept has expanded to buildings in Sea Point and Cape Town’s CBD.
“It’s clear evidence of the need for shared workspace,” says Beadle.
“At The Bureaux we cater for entrepreneurs, creatives, independent consultants, and business people who travel to Cape Town frequently and need an ‘office’; now at Bureaux Black, we are talking to top end professionals and executives, who love the concept, but want a more polished corporate feel rather than funky creative space.”
“These users also prefer the flexible lease arrangements. Desks operate on a month to month basis, whereas offices have a three month cancellation agreement. For travelling business people we offer daily and weekly bookings for offices, desks and meeting rooms. We believe our tenants should stay as long as they want rather than as long as they have to.”
