Seedstars World heads to Nairobi, Kenya
Following the success of their previous events, Seedstars World now heads to Nairobi, Kenya on 7 October 2016 to find the best startup in the country.
The Kenyan leg of the tour, backed by CfC Stanbic Bank, will try to find the best entrepreneurs Kenya has to offer. These entrepreneurs will compete for an opportunity to attend the final pitching event in Switzerland in 2017.
Eligible startups need to be less than two-years old, have raised less than US$500 000 and already built a viable product which solves local issues and ideally already has traction. They also need to have the ability to scale on a global level.
“Kenya has shown impressive development in the start-up and tech entrepreneurship ecosystem not just within the country but also for Africa. We are looking forward to seeing what the young innovators have got in stock of us (sic) and cannot wait to meet them all in person,” said Associate for Africa at Seedstars World, Selam Kebede.
“As a bank, we remain committed to moving business minded people forward and this is one way of doing so. We look forward to the 2016 event as we give yet another startup the opportunity to compete on the global stage,” said the head of business banking at CfC Stanbic Bank, Ben Wandawanda.
Winners from all the national events will compete for a stake of up to US$1-million at the 2017 finals in Switzerland, as well as the opportunity to network with global investors and mentors.
The 2017 finals will also see the most innovative education-focused startup being awarded the Transforming Education Prize, worth US$50 000.
