The Sun Exchange gets gong at Finance Africa Conference
A crowd-funding platform, The Sun Exchange, was named the best Blockchain and Bitcoin company in SA at the Finance Africa Conference, which took place in Johannesburg.
The company leases solar equipment and manages revenue collection and distribution through blockchain systems. The company uses Bitcoin as an international currency between countries, saying that transferring international currency was a time-consuming process.
The crowdfunding model allows individuals to purchase solar cells or panel assets leased to various end-users. Owners have the opportunity to earn revenue in real-time for their solar equipment. Once the panels are installed, the lease associated with them will earn the investor an income for the duration of the project.
The company has also pushed for SolarCoin which is a digital token granted freely to those that produce one megawatt of energy per hour of clean solar energy.
The Sun Exchange aims to provide clean renewable energy to those that need it
After a judging process taking place over 18-months, The Sun Exchange was shortlisted in the top three. Thereafter, the company was selected to pitch their business before a panel at the Finance Africa Conference.
“We are very excited about this award as it will increase our profile and thereby our ability to do more and continue to electrify Africa, which desperately needs electricity for development,” said CCO of The Sun Exchange, Morwesi Ramonyai in a press release to Ventureburn.
