Applications open for Global Entrepreneurship Network digital pitch competition
The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) has invited African entrepreneurs to enter their digital pitching competition. Those selected will be given an opportunity to pitch before potential investors and other entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs are encouraged to submit a three-minute video on the GEN SA Facebook page which shows off their innovative product or service. Their idea can either be in the operational phase or the prototype stage.
Entries for the competition are currently open and will close on 5 February 2017.
The submitted pitching videos will be open to a public vote before the final selection of entrepreneurs is made. Once the final five are chosen, they’ll have the opportunity to pitch their ideas at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) taking place between 13-16 March 2017.

The process for entering the competition is as follows:
- Like the GEN SA Facebook page.
- Click “Digital Pitching Competition”.
- Complete the registration form.
- Upload your pitch to Youtube or Vimeo and then paste the link into the competition form.
Once your submission is up on the GEN Facebook page, you’re encouraged to get your entrepreneurial network to “like” your submission. The top five winners will be announced on 17 February 2017 on the GEN SA Facebook page.
The winner’s flights and accommodation for the three nights to attend the GEC will be covered. Winners will also be recognised as the event’s VIPs, giving them the opportunity to network with leaders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem as well as potential investors. Speakers at this year’s GEC include President Jacob Zuma, Arvind Gupta, Lindiwe Zulu, Adrian Gore and many others.
