Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology is calling all SA tech entrepreneurs

MEST

The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) is looking for SA techies and entrepreneurs to join their next group of trainees.

The programme aims to provide its trainees with hands-on software development training, an opportunity to start and grow their own business with access to global markets, as well as mentoring from executives from global software companies and the opportunity to solve real-world business problems.

Thanks to the Meltwater Foundation, the next cohort of MEST trainees will also be eligible to receive seed funding of US$50 000 up to US$100 000.

In addition to SA, recruitments will also be taking place in Ghana, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria.

This campaign falls in line with MEST’s plan to create a pan-African network which will pool the collective talents of entrepreneurs and techies alike. The campaign will also seek to increase the number of entrepreneurs by empowering young Africans while increasing investment eligibility throughout Africa.

MEST trainees could receive up to US$100 000 in seed funding

MEST noted that in 2018 it has plans to launch incubators throughout SA in either Johannesburg or Cape T0wn. This will serve as a base of operations for South African MEST graduate entrepreneurs to build their business on their home ground.

The entrepreneurs-in-training (EITs) accepted into the programme will receive a number of benefits. Namely, they’ll receive housing accommodation for a year in Ghana, three meals a day as well as a small monthly stipend.

To be eligible for the programme, applicants need to meet the following requirements:

  • Have a strong passion that drives you to want to succeed
  • Have several years of experience as an entrepreneur or corporate work experience
  • Be able to commit a full year in Accra for the MEST programme which begins in August 2017.

Deadlines for the application closes on 10 March 2017, anyone who would be willing to apply can do so here.
