Camscorp launches Ventures Lab accelerator programme
Private equity group Camscorp, has launched its Ventures Lab programme which aims to accelerate African businesses, helping them expand into foreign markets.
“I am very humbled by the support from everyone who has been involved in bringing this programme to life,” said Camscorp representative, Sean Ndiho Obedih in a Medium post.
Ventures Lab is a three-month programme which will help businesses develop a sturdy product strong enough to create and deepen relationships with international investors.
The programme will achieve its goals by providing business with mentorship, access to networks, as well as an investment readiness programme which concludes with a pitch day in London.
Selected participants also receive tailored business advice, financial modelling, media coverage, and more.
Camscorp will aim to accelerate African businesses or businesses focusing on the African continent
“This is a non-residential programme and it doesn’t matter where you are located as long as the company is focusing on Africa, we want to hear from you,” said Obedih.
“We believe that African companies can compete on a global stage if they are given the right tools and opportunities. Our presence in 17 African countries has given us a unique vantage point,” he continued.
The Ventures Lab programme will focus on various sectors including commodities, agritech, fintech, data, financial inclusion, and insurance.
Those wanting to participate in the programme will need to meet the following criteria:
- Have already completed an initial funding round and want to raise over US$1-million, or generated US$300 000 in revenue if the company is self-funded.
- Must have a high level of month-on-month growth
- Must either be an African company or African-focused company
- Have a good management team
- Must want to scale to a global market
