Earlier this year Demo Africa toured 10 cities across Africa as part of its invitational tour looking for startups to nominate for the competition. The cities visited in the tour are Abidjan, Accra, Cassablanca, Dar es Salaam, Harare, Kampala, Lagos, Lusaka, Nairobi and Tunis.
Harry Hare, executive director and producer at DEMO Africa, said the tour will ensure that there will be representatives from across Africa at the event. A regional competition to choose four startups from the 10 selected on the tour will take place in the first week of September during the adjudication period. The four selected startups will then join the pool of online applications.
