SA fintech startup ThisIsMe, Easy Equities tie for top spot at African Fintech Awards
SA fintech startup ThisIsMe has clinched joint top spot at the African Fintech Awards, with Easy Equities.
It follows two days of intense pitching battles and an extensive voting process involving the public. The awards were hosted at the Finance Indaba held last week.
ThisIsMe helps clients to comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) and FICA legislation via an online platform, while Easy Equities allows one to invest in the stock market at a fraction of the cost of traditional stock brokers.
‘ThisIsMe is growing globally into Africa and other markets and we are constantly enhancing our technology’
In a press release ThisIsMe co-founder David Thomas said the startup, which has also attracted more than R33-million in investments last year, is grateful to have clinched the award.
“The business is growing and we plan to attract new talent. We are growing globally into Africa and other markets and we are constantly enhancing our technology,” said Thomas.
Earlier this year ThisIsMe revealed that it can complete the FICA process in under three minutes, which it claims is an African record.
