Internet of Things (IoT) strategy provider SMME IoT has signed an agreement with IoT network provider SqwidNet to connect one million devices within the next three to five years in South Africa.

The partnership will provide SqwidNet with an opportunity to provide its modules and devices to the existing network of partners that SMME IoT services.

SqwidNet CEO Reshaad Sha believes the partnership will help the company expand into other sectors

In a statement today (15 March), SqwidNet CEO Reshaad Sha (pictured above) said the company operates across a range of sectors, including the finance, human resource management and technology fields.

“We are confident that through this partnership we will be able to expand our competitive offering into these sectors,” said Sha.

SMME IoT together with IoT device manufacturer Visiosoft has begun installing just over 2 500 water meter reader units across the country.

The analytics platform connected to the water meter reader units receives the consumption data every 30 minutes.

This data is then used to understand the consumption patterns of the respective areas resulting in responsible usage of water in various suburbs and communities.
