Can Tunisia haul a win? Meet the logistics marketplace that could inspire them
After three defeats in a row for African startups the pressure will be on Tunisia to bring some cheer to the continent. After all, Tunisia back in 1978 became the first African team to win at a World Cup.
Going into the match (which kicks off at 8pm Central African Time today) the Eagles of Carthage seem like the underdogs and will have to push very hard to get a win. If only they could call on logistics marketplace Optimalogistic draw in the heavy hitters.
Optimalogistic is a two-year old marketplace for freight trucks and construction equipment
Mohamed Ben Slima (featured above, second from left) and Maher Chakroun (featured above, second from right) founded the startup in 2016. The company connects users to those renting out freight trucks and other construction equipment.
The marketplace is out to solve three main issues facing those in the logistics sector, time, money, and availability. The duo’s platform allows carriers who face empty return trips the ability to broadcast their real-time geo-location information and availability to Optimalogistic’s users.
Last month the company was crowned the best startup in Tunisia after it won the Seedstars Tunis pitch event. In addition the startup is one of seven participants in Tunisian accelerator Flat6Labs Tunis’s second cohort, which kicked off last month (see this story).
