Entries to one of Nigeria’s first female-focused tech accelerators close Friday

African women-led tech startups looking to apply to join GreenHouse Capital — one of Nigeria’s first-female focused tech accelerators — have just under three days to submit entries. Applications close on Friday (20 July).

The three-month acceleration programme is run by Lagos-based venture capital (VC) firm GreenHouse Capital. The programme is also open to US or UK-based startups run by African woman-founders which have products that are scalable in African markets.

To qualify for the programme startups must have at least one female member on their founding or leadership team.

Those startups selected will receive a minimum of $100 000 investment on reaching specific programme milestones, office space at Vibranium Valley in Lagos, as well as access to a global network of mentors and investors.

Participating startups are expected to commit to moving to Lagos for the duration of the programme which kicks off next month and will conclude with a demo day and Investment in November.

Topics to be covered by the programme include product development, market segmentation, fundraising, human capital and marketing.

To apply, startups must have a venture profile on the VC4Africa platform, and at least one female member must be part of the startup’s founding or leadership team.

In addition, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Startups must have identified a critical need in Africa and built an effective, sustainable and scalable solution.
  • They must be passionate about their chosen vertical and demonstrate the necessary commitment to building the company of their dreams.
  • They must have a team consisting of at least two members including one technical member.
  • They must have developed, at a minimum, a beta-product and be in the process of refining a go-to-market strategy, building out sales channels and generating revenue.
