Top startup events in South Africa, Africa you should know about this week [20/08/2018]
This week non-profit civic organisation Activate! will host what it claims to be Africa’s first Social Innovation Summit in Cape Town on Wednesday (22 August).
In keeping with Women’s month celebrations, MEST will tomorrow (21 August) host Britehouse COO Zimkhita Buwa at its Community Conversations event. Bhuwa is expected to speak on the valuable lessons she’s learnt as a woman in South Africa’s tech industry.
In Johannesburg on Thursday (23 August), Hartford InsurTech Hub will be looking for the city’s best insurtech startups.
Elsewhere around the continent, join a hangout in Aba, Nigeria on Friday (24 August) where creatives will look at how artificial intelligence can be used to grow businesses in the digital economy. While in Zambia entrepreneur Sipho Phiri will share how he “blew it” at an event set to be held at BongoHive on Thursday.
