Top startup events in South Africa, Africa you should know about this week [10/09/2018]

If you’re based in Cape Town go see the SA Innovation Summit which kicks off on Wednesday (12 September) and runs till Friday (14 September).

The annual flagship event is a platform for nurturing, developing and showcasing African innovation, as well as facilitating innovation thought leadership.

For those working with artificial intelligence (AI), you might want to attend AI Expo Africa 2018 which kicked off yesterday (9 September) and closes tomorrow (11 September). The expo will cover the trends driving the AI economy in Africa.

AI Expo Africa 2018

Join Africa’s largest business focused artificial intelligence (AI) community. The expo will feature over 50 African expert speakers, over 40 exhibitors and an innovation cafe showcasing the latest African AI and data science innovations.

SA Innovation Summit

This annual summit brings together corporates, government, academia, researchers, and entrepreneurs to unpack the biggest challenges on the continent, including the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) and how it matters to the African economy. Organisers expect that 1500 delegates will attend the three-day conference.

Lean (startup) coffee

For those working in startups, Lean (startup) coffee is a weekly one-hour coffee meetup that runs a mashup of leancoffee.org with theleanstartup.com.

Activate Change Drivers Social Innovations Summit

Activate is a network of young leaders equipped to drive change for the public good across South Africa. This week, the organisation will host a three-day Social Innovations Summit in partnership with the SA Innovation Summit.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Startup Day
