Nominations for the second Southern Africa Startup Awards to open on 29 April
Nominations for the second edition of the Southern Africa Startup Awards will open on 29 April, the award’s parent organisation Setup A Startup has announced.
This year’s edition of the awards were launched last Wednesday (10 April) at Impact Hub Johannesburg.
Startups from all 15 Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states — namely Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius. Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe — can be nominated for the awards.
Setup A Startup is currently looking for ambassadors that will nominate startups from their local networks for the 2019 Southern Africa Startup Awards
As part of the 2019 edition, investment platform EasyEquities will review all fintech finalists’ business cases with the objective of mentoring and matching them with distribution through its platform. Easy Equities won the respective Startup and Fintech of the Year accolades at the inaugural edition of the awards.
The partnership will see EasyEquities assist fintech finalists with the refinement of their offerings, acquisition of customers and fund raising.
Setup A Startup is currently looking for ambassadors that will help nominate startups from their local networks for the awards.
Regional partners for this year’s awards include Caban Investments, SeedLife Caban Impact Investment Fund and the Southern Africa Innovation Support programme.
