Hurry, applications for Google’s Indie Games Accelerator close in just four days
African indie game startups from Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa have until this Sunday (19 May) to apply for Google’s Indie Games Accelerator programme.
The Indie Games Accelerator, designed in collaboration with Google Play, is part of a special edition of Google’s Launchpad Accelerator initiative.
Other programme partners are games development platform Unity and mobile data and analytics firm App Annie.
The programme features a comprehensive gaming curriculum and mentorship from up to 43 top mobile gaming experts and Google staff.

Those selected to join the programme will receive invitations to two all-expenses-paid gaming bootcamps at Google’s Asia headquarters in Singapore. All air travel, hotel and meals will be covered by Google.
Indie Games Accelerator participants will also get an opportunity to showcase their games on Google Play. In addition, they will also each get a Google Pixel phone and $20 000 in Google Cloud Platform and Firebase credits which valid for 12 months.
That’s not all. Participants will also stand to benefit from invitations to exclusive events like Google Playtime 2019, a delegate pass to Google I/O 2020, as well as an invitation to a Unity Unite event of their choice.
The Indie Games Accelerator programme will kick off on 5 June, with a bootcamp set to take place between 29 July and 2 August. Programme participants are expected to graduate between 10 and 13 December.
