Swiss-based emerging markets startup competition Seedstars has announced that it will next month open a second Seedspace co-working hub in Lagos, in partnership with Nigerian business support platform GrowthLab.

Seedstars announced in a blog post last week that the new centre — Seedspace GrowthLab — will run various startup programmes, as well as an exclusive e-learning platform, under the name of GrowthLab, with curated resources, training and tools for growth.

The announcement comes after Seedstars in May last year revealed it was looking to “analyse” the possibility of expanding its co-working offering Seedspace within Nigeria.

Seedstars said the new centre will host a series of programme — including its new investment readiness programme (see this story) aimed to enable the growth of local startups and provide them access to international funding.

It said GrowthLab (formerly Starta) will provide online educational growth content that many African entrepreneurs, digital marketers, freelancers and creative professionals seek.

The professionals will be connected in an exclusive community where events will be curated, ideas can be shared, connections created and innovation fostered.

Seedstars has been active in Nigeria since 2013 when it hosted the first ever Seedstars World Lagos event.

The organisation currently has another centre in Lagos, Seedspace Lagos which is part of a global network of 13 Seedspaces.

Seedstars said in the same blog post that it will tomorrow (20 August) host the Amazon AWS Startup Day in the new Seedspace GrowthLab on August 20th.
