The secured funding will be used towards the launch of new talent that has been scouted out by the HitChat team and further empowering those in disadvantaged communities.

Nicole Landgraff, co-founder and CEO provides insight into the upcoming musical talent Hitchat will be supporting.

“We have just finished an audition process to launch a new girl band. Thousands of girls from disadvantaged communities in South Africa have auditioned but only six girls will become the girl band. The girls will live together in a house in Cape Town and get trained daily to become the next big act. The members are being announced this month.”

Founded in 2019, the entertainment startup is a social enterprise that focuses on uplifting township communities through music and the professional production of music.

According to reports, the startup has been piloting its social enterprise by developing a community-centred music production programme that empowers and provides a podium for local music artists to share their talent with the world.

The first phase of the pilot took place in Philippi, a township in the Western Cape. This was done in partnership with MTN’s ‘Music Time!’ and ‘Ayoba’ to produce an act of talent from Nyanga, Khayelitsha, and Philippi.

Erik Grönwall, co-founder of HitChat expresses gratitude for the investment secured.

“On behalf of the Hitchat team, I want to thank all the investors for supporting the Hitchat cause. Thanks to the investments we can now expand to more territories, empower even more youth, create equality of opportunity and create entertainment in the communities that need it the most.”
