Dr. Hisham El Shazli, The General Manager of MedNet Egypt explains that the partnership was inspired by the need for access to medication within the digital age.

“2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, to say the least. Healthcare is at the center of everyone’s attention. With such an unprecedented increase in awareness and demand for better healthcare services, tech-based innovations are offering invaluable solutions. The Covid-19 crisis has made many patients and health care recipients more present in their homes, which obliged all parties to the medical insurance to strive to provide home delivery for all health care services,” he added.

Benefiting MedNet insured members

The partnership aims to serve thousands of insured members and facilitate the process of dispensing insurance medications online through more than 2,000 licensed pharmacies across Egypt within Yodawy medical network.

Bu simply downloading the Yowdy app and completing a one-time-only registration, MedNet insurance members will be able to access their monthly medications and place an order for them. In addition, members will be able to upload a doctor’s prescription and obtain approval in a few minutes.

The new partnership eliminates the need for MedNet insurance members to visit pharmacies to obtain their much-needed medication.

The technology used by Yodawy

According to Yowday, state-of-the-art artificial intelligence is utilised on the platform to ensure that prescription approvals and orders are secure and orders are then sent directly to the nearest licensed pharmacy to the user which in turn delivers the ordered medication to a user’s address.

Karim Khashaba, CEO of Yodawy, explains that Yodawy’s mission is to provide a unified platform that includes all medical services.

“Tech-based innovations in the provision of online tools and services, as well as cooperation with leading healthcare companies, are what will provide the opportunity for millions of patients to get better and easier medical service, and this is what we have already started implementing when we cooperated with MedNet, which is one of the largest health programs management companies in Egypt.”

Yodawy claims to digitally service over 1.5-million users and is on a mission to improve access to healthcare in Egypt.
