Wellness app Strove raises R4 million in seed funding

fitness wellness health app Strove The Delta seed funding South Africa venture capital

Employee wellness app Strove has raised R4 million in seed funding in a round led by venture capital firm, Launch Africa.

The round comes after venture builder The Delta launched the initial product in January.

“We are really excited about this capital raise for Strove,” CEO of The Delta, Louis Buys, said in a statement.

“The raise is great validation for our model at Delta of supporting and accelerating ventures from 0 to 1, and furthermore being able to do this at a scale of nearly 10 ventures per quarter.”

The app is an activity-based rewards applications where companies can incentivise their employees to maintain their health and fitness.

Chris Bruchhausen, in partnership with The Delta, founded Strove in 2020.

“The Delta was one of the first investors when we started the company and they have been an amazing tech partner to us since inception,” Bruchhausen said.

The app is an activity-based rewards application where companies can incentivise their employees to maintain their health and fitness. It aims to combat issues such as inactivity, burnout, and chronic stress in staff members.

When a company signs up to Strove, their employees can download the app and create an account. The employees then sync their exercise activities and track statistics such as activity duration, calories burned, and distance covered.

They can also earn points that they can redeem for rewards at partner brands.

Strove’s reward partners in South Africa include Old Khaki, Poetry, Mugg & Bean, Engen, Vida e Caffè, and Bootlegger Coffee.

Following the funding round, Strove plans to expand into the United Kingdom. It has begun onboarding partners to create a rewards ecosystem for UK business employees.
