Forge Academy launches prestigious 4IR internship programme
Forge Academy, a 4IR institution that focuses on training development and business incubation, has announced the launch of a prestigious 4IR internship for young unemployed South Africans.

Arthur Wade Anderson, CEO of Forge Academy expresses that the field of 4IR is an integral part of society and that the internship provides endless opportunities for selected participants.
“The 4IR is not just an alternative educational stream. Instead, it needs to become the core around which all academic programmes are built to ensure that our learners are future-fit. The 4IR offers opportunities in entrepreneurship and employment for young adults like never seen before. We need to take advantage of these opportunities and empower the next generation of young African citizens to be the future leaders of this revolution.”
The internship
Thirty-three interns will be selected to partake in the internship programme and will be provided with the opportunity to grow their digital skills and gain valuable first-hand experience in the following 4IR disciplines; software development, user experience (UX) design, 3D graphics, gaming design and more.
Selected applicants will engage in a four-week evaluation Bootcamp and this will determine whether they are selected as one of the 33 interns to take part in the programme. The selected 33 interns will work at Forge Academy for a 12-month period and each of them will receive an accredited qualification upon completion and this will assist them in gaining a full-time position at other companies post the internship.
The internship aims to provide practical industry-related experience with an on-the-job training approach, Forge Academy aims to not only educate but mentor the selected interns. Each intern will be provided with a mentor to help guide and assist them.
Once the internship has been completed, the 33 interns will have access to possible full-time employment opportunities at Forge Academy, and support to start their own business ventures.
It is important to note that the following sectors are reliant on 4IR skills, providing the interns will numerous employment opportunities, these sectors are; economic development, trade and industry, agriculture, infrastructure, labour, science and technology, higher education, basic education, health and communications.

How to apply
Interested applicants must apply online . Applicants will undergo an interview by Forge Academy and a Human Resources Manager from Nokia. Applicants must also submit the following documents when applying:
- Certified copy of their ID (not older than 3 months)
- Matric certificate
- Highest qualifications achieved
- Updated CV
- Proof of relevant experience in the field being applied for
In order to qualify for the internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be between the ages of 18 – 26
- Currently not be employed
- Be a South African citizen
- Have a Grade 12 certificate
