New innovation and incubation campus in Joburg
Dr. Akintoye Akindele, Chairman Unicorn Group explains the aim of launching the new campus.
“The Unicorn Incubation Campus reiterates our commitment towards spurring innovation and empowering entrepreneurs to identify and build sustainable and competitive companies that will contribute to the economic growth of Africa. We are very excited that is happening in South Africa as Platform Capital and Unicorn Group have invested in a few South Africa businesses (Merge and Elite Career Solutions) and we look forward to investing in more sustainable South African businesses.”
The new innovation and incubation campus
The new campus aims to facilitate and host an entrepreneurial ecosystem with the main focus of supporting African entrepreneurs to establish their innovative business concepts and products.
Users of the campus will be provided with 24-hour access to essential resources such as high-speed internet, management coaching, pitch training, government agencies, venture capitalists and a range of other essential tools for entrepreneurs to kick start their business concept This includes access to investors who could potentially invest funding into the proposed startups and early-stage enterprises, essentially provided a crutch of support that many African startups need.
The launch of the new campus in South Africa has been prompted by the successful establishment of Unicorn Incubation Campuses in Lagos, Accra and Dallas. The launch of these campuses all occurred earlier this year.
