AHi puts out call for entrepreneurs, business chambers to apply for annual awards
Western Cape business organisation AHi has called for entrepreneurs and business chambers to enter its annual awards competition.
The organisation will present the awards during a virtual prizegiving function on 12 November.
It encouraged businesses chambers, entrepreneurs, small farmers, and hospitality business owners countrywide to apply in their respective categories.
Applications close on 22 October.
“With this year’s AHi awards, we want to honour entrepreneurs and business chambers who, despite the Covid-19 pandemic and all its challenges, have found innovative ways to reach their clients or members,” AHi Western Cape President, Dr Willie Cilliers, said in a statement.
“The AHi awards are often the greatest recognition such small business owners receive.”
Formerly the Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut, the organisation represents 9 500 small businesses across the province.
AHi annual competition categories and details
This year, AHi will hand out five awards that recognise business excellence across multiple sectors.
Two weeks leading up to the function, the organisation will announce a shortlist of three finalists for each category.
The categories include Business Chamber of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Beginner Entrepreneur of the Year, Small-Scale Farmer of the Year, and Innovative Hospitality Business of the Year.
Though the business chamber category is for AHi members only, membership is not required for the other categories.
“During the coronavirus pandemic, the AHi saw entrepreneurs go out of their way to tackle everyday challenges with innovative ideas,” Cilliers added.
“So, this year we want to reward outstanding entrepreneurs and businesses that have performed despite all the challenges.”
To enter the competition, entrepreneurs and business chambers can submit their applications on the MyAHi website.
Applications close on 22 October.
If they have any inquiries, they can send an email to info@ahiwc.co.za or WhatsApp 079 592 5945.
