Healthcare start-up helps SA with stress management
Health technology company Happitech has partnered with Momentum Multiply to help its medical aid members better manage their stress through remote health monitoring technology.
Momentum is a South Africa-based financial services group. With Happitech, members can rest assured that Multiply’s Stress Score offering is based on scientifically proven stress monitoring technology. The app-based digital solution allows them to screen and monitor their daily stress levels using the technology available on their smartphones.
By starting a Stress Score scan, members provide several data points used to determine their stress level. Multiply is then able to provide them with tips on how to improve their score. They can monitor their stress levels as frequently as they choose.
Remote monitoring technology
Yosef Safi Harb, chief executive and founder of Happitech says they are delighted to be working with Multiply to help deliver innovative monitoring solutions.
“Since we provide the first, and currently the only, medically certified smartphone heart rate variability (HRV) measurement tool, Momentum Multiply can quickly and easily create awareness around the everyday stress levels of its members. We look forward to hearing how these personalised insights can help improve stress scores over time.”
Happitech’s HRV monitoring solution has been developed by a team of aerospace, communication, and computer vision engineers. It is the first, and currently the only, medically certified smartphone HRV measurement tool on the market.
Using the Happitech software development kit, partners like Multiply have been able to adapt the remote monitoring technology for scenarios ranging from large-scale population health studies to the daily remote monitoring of patients with chronic or serious conditions.
“The Stress Score is a screening tool,” explains Johan Kleu, executive head: Momentum Multiply at Momentum Metropolitan Holdings.
“For us, making medical grade certified technology available to members is a good step to enable them to self-screen more accurately. We hope that this prompts our members to seek advice from a mental healthcare professional and improve their overall wellbeing.”
According to Kleu, mental wellbeing is currently very topical with many people feeling isolated while working very long hours. “We believe that awareness of a person’s stress levels is a good starting point to improved mental wellbeing. Raising awareness and giving members tips on how to manage stress will make a positive difference in their lives.”
