She Leads Africa, Huawei partner for Chinese fellowship programme
Female African entrepreneurs involved in tech now have the opportunity to travel to China, where they’ll experience some of the country’s most innovative technologies and the people building them.
This is the second time social enterprise, She Leads Africa, and major Chinese tech company Huawei, have partnered up to help boost female African entrepreneurship. Huawei was one of the flagship sponsors for SLA’s Entrepreneur Showcase held in September 2014.
She Leads also partnered with US chip manufacturer Intel earlier this year to introduce workshops on tech and entrepreneurship in Nairobi, Lagos and Johannesburg. Last year, the organisation was responsible for taking eight women-led startups to pitch at Diaspora Demo Day in the US.

The week-long programme will begin in Shenzhen, China where entrepreneurs will visit the Huawei Headquarters, meet with business leaders and interact with the company’s latest technologies. African entrepreneurs will also explore tech incubators and design factories in the Asian country.
“We are extremely pleased to partner with Huawei to provide African female tech entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn what it takes to become to build a global company and develop the connections and relationships it takes to make that happen,” She Leads Africa co-founder Yasmin BeloOsagie said in a press release.
