MTN holds first Digital Entrepreneur Masterclass

Telecoms giant MTN successfully hosted their first Digital Entrepreneur Masterclass on 27 October.

Hosting the event was CEO of Innate Investment Solutions, Lynette Ntuli. Recounting her experience being a ‘digital savvy entrepreneur’ she mentioned in a press release to Ventureburn, “The great thing about going digital is that it opens up your business to global customers. Digital ideas help elevate SMEs to the next level.”

MTN’s senior manager for SMEs, Wei-Ling Chiu, mentioned some of the best tools for entrepreneurs to use when the budget is tight. Some of his mentions include Pexels, a free stock image provider for commercial use, and Hootsuite, a social media manager.

“We are equipping South Africa’s entrepreneurs to harness technology to grow their businesses. Digital entrepreneurship is driving an economic revolution,” said GM of enterprise sales at MTN Business SA, David Mphelo.

“Digital transformation is fundamental for the growth of businesses, more so for small businesses. The digital space gives small business the edge over big business, with mobile situated at the heart of any business,” continued Mphelo.

Speakers included the director of National Gazelles, Zukile Nomafu; CEO of the National Business Council, Mike Anderson and others. They provided insightful knowledge on tools and methods for entrepreneurs to run their business successfully in a digital industry.

GM for MTN Business, Omotayo Ojutalayo also briefly touched on MTN’s role in providing support to SME’s with regards to accessibility to markets, “Complex solutions have very little uptake. We need to make sure that whatever solutions we have, they are easy to understand.”
