Applications now open for Anzisha Prize youth entrepreneurs awards
Applications for the Anzisha Prize, an award celebrating Youth Entrepreneurs who’ve made their mark on SA, are now open. It was established by the African Leadership Academy (ALA) along with the Mastercard Foundation.
15 entrepreneurs between the ages of 15 and 22 will have the opportunity to win a share of US$100 000 and receive ongoing consulting services as well as access to a network of global leaders.
“Finalists for the Prize win far more than access to a share of the pool of US$100,000 in prize money, they also access a business incubation fellowship aimed at growing their business and supporting their professional development,” said the senior program manager for the Anzisha Prize, Grace Kalisha in a press release.
Selected finalists will also receive a fellowship package to the value of US$7 500 with the ALA Youth Entrepreneur Support Unit. This includes the Anzisha Accelerator boot camp, travel opportunities, consulting services, mentorship and other business equipment.
Anzisha Prize to honour top youth entrepreneurs in Africa
“The Anzisha prize is an investment in the transformative power of African youth leadership,” said the program manager at the Mastercard Foundation, Koffi Assouan.
In order to be eligible to apply, applicants need to be a national of any African country and between the ages of 15 and 22. They also need to be a founder or a founding member of an existing venture no matter the sector.
A key goal of the prize is to enable the young entrepreneurs to be able to scale and employ other youth, essentially showing the power of youth-led businesses in Africa.
“The process will be higher touch for applicants in order to offer much needed entrepreneurial support that is in short supply for Africa’s youth,” said Kalisha.
Application forms are available in English, French, Arabic, and Portuguese and close on 1 April 2017. Physical copies and electronic copies of the application form will be accepted.
