Start-Up Chile opens applications to accelerator programme, increases funding
Global accelerator Start-Up Chile has opened applications to its seven-month accelerator programme Start-Up Chile Seed.
The accelerator made the announcement yesterday in a blog post on its site, stating that interested entrepreneurs have until 30 January to submit applications.
In the same post the accelerator added that this year, it will provide programme participants with $40 000 in equity-free funding, $10 000 more than what it was providing entrepreneurs last year.
When the government launched the programme in 2010 it initially offered $40 000 grants to participants. The government subsequently lowered this to $30 000 for recent cohorts.
Start-Up Chile has increased the amount of funding it provides to entrepreneurs, and again offers $40 000 in zero-equity funding
Application to the Start-Up Chile Seed programme is open to founders of startups that are under three-years old and have a functional product.
Programme participants will receive a workspace, pitch training, mentoring, and access to workshops. In addition, all foreign participants are given a one-year long work visa that will allow them to run their businesses in Chile.
The accelerator also allows the best startups to apply for a further $40 000 in funding once they complete the programme.
Want to know more? Start-Up Chile will hold a live webinar tomorrow (11 January) at 1.30pm (GMT-3). You can catch it live here. Read Ventureburn’s story from 2017, on the programme here, where the publication spoke to two SA entrepreneurs selected for the programme.
