Zimbabwean agritech startup Rera crowned winner at Seedstars Harare
Harare-based startup Rera — which has developed an online platform that helps users run their own poultry farm — has come out tops at the 2018 edition of Seedstars Harare.
In a pitching session held last Friday (29 June) held at Impact Hub Harare, the founders of the four-year old startup out pitched founders from eight other startups to claim top spot.
Rera’s end-to-end farming service assists users with input procurement, production, and saves users up to 40% on poultry produce.
Rera will now represent Zimbabwe at Seedstars regional and global summits
Rera will now represent the country at the regional and at the global Seedstars Summit, which will be held in Switzerland next year where the startup will stand a chance to win up to $1-million in equity funding.
Wellness and healthtech startup Wellnescript was placed second, while another agritech platform YouFarm came third.

Vote Africa — a mobile application that aims to educate, motivate and empower the electorate to hold governments accountable — was awarded the best Civic Tech startup prize.
Another award, the Best Learner prize, was presented to Justice Today for its mobile application which uses artificial intelligence to educate users about and protect them from crime.
