Jozi team wins Acsa, Tshimologong access management system challenge
A Johannesburg-based team of developers comprising of Aaron Rseke, Gift Mogeni and Mosima Matlhwana has been selected as the winners of Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa) and Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct‘s access management system challenge.
The team, which goes by the name Authentic8, was selected for its single sign-on solution which it built on a collaborative development platform.
In a statement today (27 November), Tshimologong said the team of three developers received R150 000 and a seven-month long incubation period at the digital innovation precinct where they will continue developing their winning solution.

Authentic8 was announced as the winner after it emerged victorious in a hackathon where it took on another developer team, Wakanda, which was placed second.
Tshimologong Precinct enterprise development manager Shaun Randles said the idea with the hackathon was to not only help Acsa to streamline and develop a single system to manage access and authentication for all its systems, but to help the innovation hub to discover a “new generation of technology driven skills”.
In total 50 teams participated in the hackathon process, he said.
Acsa socio-economic development senior manager Humbulani Netshieneulu said the company is “excited” about Authentic8’s solution. Netshieneulu said the prototypes presented by the two finalists demonstrated an “innate understanding” of the challenges the company faces and the best possible solution for Acsa’s access management.
“Using a platform for enterprise blockchain, Airports Company South Africa is confident that together with Tshimologong’s guidance, Authentic8 will deliver a valuable solution,” added Netshieneulu.
Authentic8’s solution aims to increase trust, efficiency and transparency. The platform, which is permission based, is designed to be shared and replicated. The team’s developers all have skills in cyber security, virtual reality, robotics, engineering and research.
