These are the startups that won at Egypt’s fifth edition of Techne Summit
Egyptian startup Praxi Labs has secured a spot in the grand finale of the Startup World Cup and with it a chance to win $1-million, after last month winning the Egyptian round of the event.
The grand file takes place in in Silicon Valley in May next year.
The Startup World Cup event was held at the Techne Summit which was run between 28 and 30 September at Alexandria’s Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The Startup World Cup event was one of five startup competitions that the summit hosted.
The four other events were The Trip to Stockholm, Future Technopreneurs, AXA OneHealth & Techne and the EdVentures pitching competitions.
Techne Summit featured five startup competitions including a Startup World Cup event
The Trip to Stockholm pitching competition, which was co-organised by the Swedish Institute and the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo, was won by Egyptian on-demand cleaning service Mermaid. Verteek and Talents were placed second and third, respectively.
The Future Technopreneurs pitching competition, which is organised by Egypt’s Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (TIEC), was won by Kickoff Sports. Cure Ticket, Aqar Cash, and Itqan took home second, third and fourth prize, respectively.
The AXA OneHealth & Techne pitching competition produced four winners, instead of three. First place went to online pharmacy 3elagi, followed by Imedical, Vetwork, and ByPass, who were awarded the second, third and fourth prizes.
Innova took first prize in the EdVentures pitching competition. This while Vlaby, and Entlaq were awarded the second and third prizes.
