Solution Space selects nine startups to join its Venture Exploitation Programme
The UCT Graduate School of Business’ Solution Space has selected nine startups to join its 12-week Venture Exploitation Programme.
The programme, which is currently underway and started on 11 November, is the second phase of the Solution Space e-Track Programme which is run in partnership with the MTN Group.
The three-phase e-Track Programme aims to accelerate new ventures and is also a capacity building programme for high impact entrepreneurs.
The Solution Space’s 12-week Venture Exploitation Programme started on 11 November
MTN Group’s general manager for ecosystem development Eero Tarjanne explained in a statement yesterday that the programme is a key MTN initiative to help scale promising ideas or teams in the digital and mobile financial services space. The idea is to create and stimulate an ecosystem leveraging various MTN platforms.
Tarjanne also added that the initiative also aims to identify and attract top talent.
Solution Space said the programme is designed to support teams build scalable businesses with international potential. It added that individual participants can either explore their own business idea or join an existing venture.
The startups that have been selected for the programme are:
- Contego Protego: Discreet security-enabled panic button card
- ZarGa: Mobile remittance payment platform
- Prim-U: Online beauty and wellness service platform
- Lalela: Mobile device audiometer
- AskCicero: Automated legal consultancy
- Visar: Visual interactive learning kit
- GreenED: Online education platform
- SameStart: An online conceptual learning platform for high school pupils
- Dream Factory: Foundation which provides an educational programme for youth to drive entrepreneurial development and employment opportunities
