Cell C to take part in Top Women Global Virtual Conference
Cell C has been invited to take part in this year’s Top Women Global Virtual Conference for Africa. The event has been made possible by Standard Bank partnering with TopCo Media and other organisations including, the Commission For Gender Equality and UN Women.
The 17th annual conference is scheduled to take place on the 1st and 2nd of October
The conference has worked to bring together experts and thought-leaders to offer inspiration and practical solutions to support thousands of female entrepreneurs in Africa.
For this year’s conference, there is an emphasis on educating their attendees with knowledge on how to withstand the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Juliet Mhango, The Chief Human Capital Development and Transformation Officer for Cell C, will be involved in a panel discussion titled, “Gender equality through inclusive skills development and employment creation”.
Mhango stated that they are honoured to be invited to participate in the event. She added that Cell C has always been a supporter of gender equality and the empowerment of women.
“Through initiatives such as Take A Girl Child To Work Day, Cell C’s Bursary program for girl learners, and our holistic online educational platform Cell C girl, we are dedicated to driving the advancement of all women in the workplace and beyond,” said Mhango.
Top Women Global Virtual Conference
The Top Women Global Virtual Conference is a two-day event in which thousands of entrepreneurs, finalists, and judges will attend. The organisers expect this to be the biggest global digital event for women entrepreneurs.
The conference will include live Q&A sessions, access to networking sessions, remote meetups. Organisers will be using the all-in-one platform, Hopin, to allow participants to attend talks given by the speakers and connect with other female entrepreneurs from around the world.
This year’s speakers will include among others the Global Head of Private Equity Actis, Natalie Kolbe, the Group Cheif Executive of Standard Bank, Sim Tshabalala, and the Founder and CEO of Orgella, Allegro Dinkwanyane.
In the past, the conference has included prominent speakers such as the former Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, the Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambao Ngquka, and athlete Caster Semenya.
Winner of Standard Bank Top Women Awards to be announced
Prior to the start of the conference, TopCo Media announced the finalists for the prestigious Standard Bank Top Women Awards. The winners will be announced on the 2nd of October.
The Director of Marketing for TopCo Media, Karla Fletcher, stated that it is important to give recognition to businesses and individuals that support gender empowerment even during hard economic and social circumstances.
“This forms part of our fundamental mission of changing society for the better in all that we do,” said Fletcher.
