Tech scholarship programme worth R3.5-million to launch
Local edtech startup HyperionDev plans to launch R3.5-million worth of coding scholarships for locals with the assistance of an impact investment opportunity that encourages the public to become stakeholders in the company’s growing edtech business.
The edtech is offering investment equity shares for as little as R200
Riaz Moola, founder, and CEO of HyperionDev comments on the importance of providing tech education to locals.
“I strongly believe that accessible tech education is the future of social upliftment and mobility for thousands of people across the globe. In South Africa, there are too many people who do not have the skills nor opportunity to find well-paying, decent jobs.”
The impact investment
The UK-based capital funding drive that ties into the impact investment, which has raised a reported £1.5million (±R32 million/ ±US$2 million) in capital commitments – will facilitate HyperionDev’s expansion into UK and US markets on the back of the company’s success in Africa.
Individuals can purchase equity shares in the local edtech startup for R200 per share while positively contributing to the coding scholarship fund in return.
The edtech startup has reported that renowned local celebrity Black Coffee and his investment company, Flightmode Digital, have already invested in the current round of crowdfunding.
According to reports, more than $400 00 has been secured by the edtech startup and has been provided by some of the biggest tech organisations in the world.
Investment applications open in February 2021.
Coding bootcamp
HyperionDev is committed to social upliftment and social impact with tech education.
The coding bootcamps offered are accessible to beginners and students are able to complete the course using a computer or mobile phone device.
